Posted by Eric Aaberg November 29, 2020 in Team News

We are thrilled to announce Noureen Hoq, former student-athlete (player) for the Overwatch B Team, as the new Student Overwatch Team Manager. Noureen will now be helping manage the varsity Overwatch Team, a part of The University of Texas at Dallas’ Esports Program, by scheduling matches, finding tournaments & leagues to compete in, monitoring internal team synergy/spirit, and working with the Esports Creative Staff for collaboration with content, media coverage, player branding, and events with the entire program.

Noureen, Tell Us About Yourself!

I’m a biology/neuroscience double major and I can understand like 5 languages! I got involved with UT Dallas Esports because I wanted to be a part of a community and be a part of something bigger than me. I loved the Esports Program and family here and wanted to add to it and see it become bigger than it ever has before. I would say, for people looking to join and get involved, “release your inhibitions” (feel the rain on your skin) and just go for it because people here are so welcoming and only want to see you succeed. And, if you’re wanting to get involved with our community/team, be sure to join our Discord Server and interact! It’s so easy to become a hype-fan and friendly face in our community!

How did you start with UT Dallas Esports?

I started my journey with competitive Overwatch almost two years ago when I made my first team, Devious, that still exists today. I started as both a player and manager for that team and found that I loved it. I heard that UT Dallas was having tryouts and decided to tryout, hardly believing I’d be able to make it, but I did. A semester into competing, I found that I loved the people in the Overwatch scene at UTD and would love nothing more than to manage them. With an opening for the position, Head Director & Coach Greg Adler approached me and now I’m pursuing my true passion in esports – management!
Noureen is one of many new students either joining our program or taking on a new position within our team. Be sure to learn more via our Discord Server and our social media channels!
